3/6 — Pathfinder Is Getting a Second Edition
It’s time for tabletop RPGers everywhere to rejoice! Paizo has announced on their site that their RPG system, Pathfinder, is finally getting a second edition. It’s been nearly a decade since play-testing began for the First Edition, so it’s definitely an appropriate time for some changes to the game. Beginning on August 2, 2018, players will be allowed to play-test this new Second Edition, but before that, Paizo promises to continually provide details in regards to the changes and updates they’ll be making. 3/7 — Prepare for the Newest Avengers Film with Thanos Rising
Publisher USAopoly revealed a brand new game, titled Thanos Rising: Avengers Infinity War, that coincides with the upcoming Avengers film. While there aren’t that many details in regards to its gameplay, the post does describe Thanos Rising as a “cooperative dice and card game” that’ll have the players taking on the roles of Marvel heroes. The game does come with an eye-catching, 120mm miniature of Thanos, as well as 190 other components. Also, there’s not long to wait for Thanos Rising’s release, as it’s due to hit shelves April 6, 2018.
3/8 — Mage Knight Is Going Ultimate
As reported on WizKids website, the publisher is developing a new version of their hit board game Mage Knight that’s called Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition. Designed by Vlaada Chvátil, this “Ultimate Edition” will include the base game as well as its three expansions. In addition, it will feature “integrated rules text”, five brand new cards, and “alternate paint jobs”. Lastly, Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition will be available in a wide variety of languages, which is always a good thing. For those that are interested, this game is “expected” to release in September 2018 for the MSRP of $124.99.
3/12 — Renegade Gonna Go Go Power Rangers
As reported on their site, Renegade Game Studios has entered into a partnership with Saban Brands to develop Saban’s Power Rangers tabletop games. Renegade Games also states in the release that the upcoming games will “uphold the Power Rangers’ brand core values of teamwork, inclusivity, and diversity.” There’s not much else out there in regards to this announcement, but then again, this is already pretty huge news.
3/12 — Cryptozoic Demos the Yummy Sounding PantoneTM
First off, when I heard the name of this game, my mind immediately went to panettone (I’m fat). Unfortunately, PantoneTM: The Game is not at all related to the Italian sweet bread, but it does sound fun in its own right. For 2-20 players, this new party game has its players trying to identify specific pop culture characters with the use of “abstract arrangements of colors”. Designed by Scott Rogers, this game plays in 15-30 minutes and comes with 192 cards. PantoneTM: The Game was previewed at Reno’s GAMA Trade Show and will be in stores later in 2018.
- Stuffed Fables, is getting even tougher with some “Seasoned Stuffies”. Designed for experienced gamers, these “Stuffies” are new rules that increase the overall difficulty of the game. For more information on these variants, check out this link.
- Fantasy Flight Games unveiled a number of new Booster Packs for Star Wars: Destiny, their hit card game. Check them out here.
- Fans of the card game Fluxx might be excited to hear that a new version of the game, Anatomy Fluxx, is on its way. Loaded with organs, bones, viruses, and more, Anatomy Fluxx might even be slightly educational.
