1/23 — Star Wars: The RPG Turns 30
As reported in a release on Fantasy Flight Games’ websites, the publisher is releasing a special 30th Anniversary Edition of the vintage West End Star Wars™: The Roleplaying Game. This edition will include the classic rulebook for the game, along with a sourcebook that’ll help fill out your quests with aliens, vehicles, locations, etc. Within the 30th Anniversary Edition of the Star Wars™: The Roleplaying Game, you’ll find the same fast-paced, skill roll gameplay of the original, as well as a number of templates that’ll allow you to quickly build new characters. 1/23 — Renegade Game Studios and Hunter’s Books Team Up
From an announcement on their site, Renegade Game Studios revealed that they’ve entered into a partnership with Hunter’s Books, creators of the tabletop RPGs Kids on Bikes, Outbreak Undead, and more. This deal will allow Hunter’s Books to reach a wider audience through Renegade’s retailer distribution network. Both Scott Gaeta, the President of Renegade Game Studios, and Ivan Van Norman, Marketing Manager and Developer at Hunter’s Books, express their excitement for the deal in the post. 1/24 — Renegade Game Studios Reveals a New Clank! Expansion
In a notable announcement on their website, Renegade Game Studios disclosed that the latest Clank! expansion, Clank! The Mummy’s Curse, will release in March. With a “pyramid-themed” board and new monsters and challenges, this new expansion seems pretty comprehensive. The story involves an “undying Mummy” that’s released a curse on the raiders that would steal the riches from its tomb, and also, said riches have enticed a dragon. This expansion is for 2-4 players and will take 30-60 minutes per session. For more details, check out the article here.
1/29 — Blue Orange Games Unveils Their 2018 Lineup
In a post on their site, Blue Orange Games (Kingdomino, Photosynthesis, etc.) unveiled their board game releases for 2018 (so far). The studio plans to release at least 16 games this year in a number of categories, including dexterity, cooperative, puzzle, and more. All of the titles covered in the post are set to be launched at the New York Toy Fair on February 17, and then they’ll be available for retail in the spring. Given Blue Orange’s recent successes publishing intuitive, family friendly games, it’s probably safe to expect that several of these new products will be huge hits. To check them out, click here.

- Z-Man Games revealed a bunch of details about their new expansion for Fields of Arle, entitled Tea & Trade. Fans of the base game have a lot to look forward to.
- Fantasy Flight Games just released the Twilight Imperium Galactic Gamemat that can be used with the game’s 4th Edition. It’s 3′ by 3′, and it looks pretty sweet.
- Eggertspiele made two big announcements on BoardGameGeek. First, they unveiled their eye-catching new board game, Coimbra. Second, they announced that the beloved game Great Western Trail is getting an expansion called Rails to the North. It was an important week for them indeed.
