4/16 — Z-Man Games’ Search for New Lands
As announced on their site, Z-Man Games’ upcoming title, Race to the New Found Land, is now available for pre-order. With elements of resource management and worker placement, the game has its players competing as they upgrade their ships and port in the hope that they’ll reach the New World first. Quicker ships carry less cargo and crew though, so players will have to decide where their priorities lie. Once the players reach the New Found Land, they can scour it for resources (gold, iron, wood, and cloth). With their holds filled with cargo from the New World, the players return to Europe to fulfill orders and earn victory points. Race to the New Found Land may utilize gameplay mechanics from a bunch of other games, but it sounds as though the designers put enough of their own spin on them for the game to stand out. 4/18 — The Crystal Clans Grow with Four Additions
Fans of the popular game Crystal Clans will be pleased to hear that it’s growing with the addition of four new clans: Shadow, Fang, Leaf, and Feather. Each of these “expansion decks” feature new ways to play the game, as well as the new units with which to do so. The Shadow Clan specialize in stealth and sneaking, providing them with advantages such as surprise / sneak attacks and the ability to “gain intel”. The Fang Clan are extremely powerful but unpredictable, and they’re focused on strong offense over defense. The Leaf Clan are known for their connection to nature, which gives them advantages no other clan has. Finally, the Feather Clan can fly, which provides them with extra movement and the ability to strike their enemies with speed. These four clans will be released in July. Fans of Crystal Clans and others who are interested can find the post about these expansions here.
